Refereeing

Refereeing and officiating

Referees protect the safety of players and the fairness of every match. WSBF sets one standard of officiating for all its sports.

Refereeing

Principles

Full authority

The referee has full authority to enforce the rules from the moment they enter the court; decisions during play are final.

Safety first

Play is stopped immediately for serious injury, danger to players, equipment failure or an unsafe surface.

Fair play

Players and coaches must respect referees. Only the team captain speaks with the referee, and only clubs may file a written objection after the match.
